Overview

HUNTER London is looking for an Account Director to serve as the senior lead for the agency’s B2B and corporate accounts, responsible for both the strategic direction and oversight of delivery across programmes. Their role is to develop strategies and activities that build corporate reputation and support commercial objectives, often distilling complex or technical subject matter into clear, compelling narratives for priority audiences. They should be able to manage and plan the total picture involved in growing client relationships with minimal involvement from the MD. Their role is to develop strategies and activities that build corporate reputation and support commercial objectives for clients, oversee their execution, and quality control all aspects of clients’ programmes and relationship with the agency.

 

As an Account Director in HUNTER’s B2B and corporate practice, you will lead sophisticated programmes for clients operating in complex markets. You’ll develop integrated strategies that build corporate reputation, support commercial objectives and influence priority stakeholders using a mix of executive visibility, media relations and strategic counsel. You will translate technical or complex subject matter into compelling narratives and thought leadership which aligns with our clients’ wider business and marketing goals. 

 

Account Directors also have a passion for nurturing junior staff, supporting their training and development throughout their careers with HUNTER. They play a role in the growth of the business, its systems and organisation. It goes without saying that they also demonstrate flawless communication and organisational skills to run day-to-day retainer activity and campaigns smoothly, ensuring teams deliver exceptional work, meeting deadlines and KPIs.

Responsibilities

1.      Client Relations – Respected for their senior counsel and as the person responsible for overall account running and programme delivery, the Account Director will be a first port of call for clients, including senior stakeholders. Confidently holds relationships with clients, offering senior level sign off on work across the team, ensuring timelines are set, adhered to and KPIs are met. Proactively offers strategic counsel to colleagues and clients. 

2.      Communication Skills - Leads by example and demonstrates effective delegation and briefing skills to ensure junior team members are clear on assigned tasks and deadlines so that work is delivered on-time and to a high standard. Is able to consistently manage up / down to ensure the team is abreast of progress. 

3.      Campaign Execution – Responsible for writing strategic proposals from start to finish with minimal support from the leadership team. Fully accountable for the delivery of both campaign and retainer work to high standards, meeting agreed KPIs. Understands how best to measure results and sell back to the client, particularly in a B2B and corporate context (e.g. reputation, share of voice, message pull-through and support for commercial objectives).

4.      Account Management – Responsible for ensuring all day-to-day account management is delivered to a high standard across the team. Oversight of all budgets, including ensuring these are realistic and correctly managed. The Account Director will make sure timesheets are reconciled and servicing levels are maintained.  

5.      Team Management - The Account Director should lead by example, offering senior counsel across all areas to junior team members, making sure team members have access to the right training, advice and support they need to be effective in their roles. They should be approachable, supportive and demonstrate strong briefing and delegation skills, liaising with senior management where appropriate on any issues that should be escalated. Line management duties begin at Account Director level.

6.      Training and Development - Delivering training sessions to agency staff, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise. Being proactive in suggesting training and development areas for junior colleagues. 

7.      New Business - Driving organic growth through well-crafted proposals for existing B2B and corporate clients - to manage from start to finish, including strategic thinking that clearly links communications activity to client business and reputation objectives. Contributing to, and where appropriate, leading new business pitches.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years in PR / communications with a strong focus on B2B and /or corporate communication
  • Proven track record leading programmes for brands or organisations targeting business decision makers or specialist stakeholders.
  • Confident working with business, national and trade media, and developing thought leadership, executive profiling and content programmes.
  • Experience providing senior counsel to clients and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.
