About Us

There’s a reason HUNTER is recognized as one of PRWeek’s Best Place To Work and has been named PRovoke “Consumer Agency of the Year” not once, but twice: At HUNTER, we EARN IT — consumer attention, the trust and loyalty of clients, and the dedication of our staff, currently 350+ strong and counting.

Overview

As the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Earned Media, you are a key leader on HUNTER’s centralized Media Team, driving and developing the strategies that keep our clients at the forefront of the cultural conversation. In this role, you are spearheading earned media excellence and project management across a powerhouse roster of food & beverage, spirits, home & lifestyle, health & beauty, tech, and travel brands.

This role is for a high-level strategist who can oscillate between 30,000-foot strategic planning and "in the trenches" leadership. This seasoned media pro knows how to navigate senior agency leads and executives, mentor the next generation of media stars, and turn a complex brand challenge into a headline-grabbing success story. At HUNTER, we don’t just "do" media, we earn it.

Responsibilities

  • Chart the Course: You don’t just follow trends; you anticipate them. You will oversee the development of high-impact media strategies, ensuring every campaign, from a global product launch to a niche reactive moment, is integrated, innovative, and aligned with broader client goals.
  • Command the Newsroom: Your rolodex is second to none. You maintain a high-level network of key editors and industry titans. You’re not just pitching; you’re building the long-term, top-tier relationships that ensure our agency remains a preferred partner for the world’s most influential outlets.
  • Lead from the Front: You’re never "too senior" to jump in and support media outreach. You have the industry clout to land the big hits and the hustle to roll up your sleeves and pitch alongside your team during high-stakes launches or breaking news moments. You lead by example, showing the pack exactly how to turn interest into confirmed coverage.
  • Bridge the Silos: You are the ultimate collaborator. You will serve as the strategic liaison between Account, Creative, Digital, and Entertainment teams, ensuring that earned media isn’t an afterthought, but a core driver of every creative execution.
  • Architect of Narrative: You provide the expert counsel that clients and internal leaders rely on. You’ll help Business Unit leaders navigate complex issues management and problem-solve on a global scale, offering a media-first lens that protects and promotes our clients’ reputations.
  • Lead the Team: As a senior leader, you are a culture-builder. You manage and mentor a team of media specialists, providing the training and feedback they need to level up. You lead by example, championing agency policy and fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment.
  • Master the Logistics: You know that a great strategy is only as good as its execution. You’ll keep the media engine humming by overseeing project timelines, managing team bandwidth, and staying diligent on active billings. From tracking deliverables to ensuring scopes are met, you bring an organized, project-management mindset to every account.
  • Secure the Spotlight: You are a pro at managing high-stakes execution. You’ll ensure your team expertly manages booking talent and executing celebrity spokesperson media days, and that every run of show document and interview brief is top notch.
  • Drive the Engine: You have a sharp eye for the business of the agency. You’ll oversee operational tasks, from building project scopes and managing billings/time on current projects to contributing to new business pitches that showcase our media prowess to prospective clients.
  • Voice of Authority: Support in development of proactive thought leadership POVs on media relations topics including the media landscape, media trends, and current events.

Ability To

  • Future-Proof the Agency: Stay ahead of the curve on emerging media, from GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) to how AI is reshaping news consumption. You don’t just adapt to change; you use it to drive innovation.
  • Counsel with Confidence: Confidently present to and counsel clients and agency leaders, translating media metrics into business-driving results.
  • Connect the Dots: Take a brand objective and turn it into a multifaceted media roadmap that resonates across traditional, social, and emerging platforms.
  • Be the Calm in the Storm: Manage high-stakes programming and tight deadlines with executive poise, providing a steady hand for both your team and clients.
  • Be Agile: Travel to client headquarters or major event locations, representing the agency’s media expertise on the ground.

Qualifications

  • The Experience: 10-12 years of PR agency or media experience, with a proven track record of "earning your stripes" through career-defining earned media campaigns.
  • The Perspective: Expertise in multicultural earned media is highly desirable and would be a strong plus.
  • The Leadership: 7+ years of experience managing high-performing teams. You are an expert at delegating, inspiring, and building a culture where people want to do their best work.
  • The Vision: You have a deep understanding of the media landscape and a passion for redefining what "earned" means in a digital-first world.
  • The Knowledge: A degree in PR, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, and a career spent studying the ever-changing media landscape.
